Alexi Pappas: Olympian, author, and filmmaker

This year, we are welcoming back Alexi Pappas, a renowned running and mental health figure, as our guest speaker for Wineglass Weekend.

Alexi Pappas, “Renaissance Runner” (New York Times) is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and Olympic athlete.  Alexi's bestselling memoir-in-essays, "Bravey," has impacted the cultural conversation around mental health. Random House asked Alexi to write a young reader’s version of “Bravey,” which was released in the fall of 2023. Alexi most recently directed and starred in the feature film NOT AN ARTIST alongside RZA, Ciara Bravo, Paul Lieberstein, Matt Walsh, and Haley Joel Osment (currently in post-production).

A Greek American, Pappas holds the Greek national record in the 10,000-meters and competed for Greece at the 2016 Olympic Games. Alexi's work has been published in the New York Times, Lenny Letter, Runner’s World Magazine, Women’s Running Magazine, Outside Magazine, and others; she has been profiled in the New York Times, CNN, Sports Illustrated, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Armchair Expert. As a filmmaker, Alexi co-wrote and starred alongside Nick Kroll in Olympic Dreams, the first narrative feature film to be shot at the Olympic Games. She also co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the feature film Tracktown.
