Corning, NY - In an unprecedented display of support, showing just how popular the Wineglass Half Marathon has become, race organizers announced that this favorite race, set for October 1st is SOLD OUT with 3,500 registered runners. The waitlist is now open. Not only is this the largest field ever, but it marks the earliest that registration has closed in race history.
Recently awarded by the 100 Half Marathon Club, "Overall Best Rated Event," "Must Do in Your Lifetime," and "Half Marathon You'd Do Every Single Year If You Could," the Wineglass Half Marathon attracts runners from across the country and is particularly popular with female runners who will make up approximately 70% of this year's field.
"The combination of the area's fast, flat and scenic fall views from Campbell to Corning as well as a variety of shopping, wineries and museums makes the Half Marathon a favored destination race," Race Director, Sheila Sutton said. "We have runners coming from as far as New Zealand, Japan and Barbados. A lot of runners will make this a girls' weekend or bring their families for a fall getaway," added Sutton.
The Wineglass Full Marathon is filling fast as well with less that 700 slots still available. The 36th Annual Wineglass Weekend kicks-off with the Corelle 5K on Saturday, September 30th to be followed by the Wineglass Half and Full Marathons on Sunday, October 1st.
