Corning, NY - The results are in, and the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon has been recognized by RaceRaves as the top marathon in New York State.

RaceRaves, the leading online race finder and reviews community for runners, recently announced the winners of its "Best Marathons in the U.S." poll. The top race in each state was selected based on votes from thousands of runners across the country, along with reviews and ratings on RaceRaves.com. More than a laundry list, the handy "who's who" guide will help first-timers, and seasoned marathoners alike build their all-star marathon wish list.

(Due to their exclusive status and popularity as World Marathon Majors, the Boston Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon and TCS New York City Marathon were excluded from the voting in their respective states.)

Common themes among the winning events included exceptional production and on-course support, strong community involvement, and a scenic marathon course that showcases the beauty and attractions of the local region.

Staged in the spectacular Finger Lakes region in the heart of East Coast wine country, the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon is one of the nation's premier destination marathons and an excellent Boston Qualifier. The flat point-to-point course from Bath to Corning follows quiet country roads awash in an explosion of fall colors. A handcrafted glass finisher medal ("way too cool for words") and a small bottle of sparkling wine with wine glass await all finishers. "Our race is a community effort," said Sheila Sutton, Race Director "the passion our runners and dedicated volunteers show make this event really special."
