CORNING—Wineglass Marathon is excited to welcome Sarah Reinertsen, the first woman with a prosthetic leg to complete the Ironman World Championship, as guest speaker during this year's pasta dinner at the Radisson Hotel Corning on Saturday, October 4 at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $25 per person and sell out quickly!

Sponsored by Corning Incorporated Health & Wellness group, Sarah Reinertsen, author of "In a Single Bound: Losing My Leg, Finding Myself, and Training for Life," was born with a congenital birth defect and at age seven, had her leg amputated. Reinertsen is a driven young woman who shares her story about growing up and trying to fit in with her two-legged friends. She broke the 100-meter world record for female above-the-knee amputees at age thirteen, and has since competed in marathons, triathlons and has even scaled the Great Wall of China in CBS's reality television show The Amazing Race. In her book, she names The Amazing Race as the biggest race of her life. She will be available on Friday, October 3 at Bath/Haverling High School at 7:00pm and Saturday, October 4 during the Expo to meet runners and sign copies of her book. Tickets for the October 3 signing are $7.00 and are available by calling (607) 776-7122.

"I'm honored to get to come run in the Wineglass race," said Reinertsen. "It's one of the reasons why I like to run, to enjoy the fruits of my labor after a long run and sip a smooth drink from a wineglass and cheers with friends afterwards. I look forward to raising my wineglass with all the athletes post race."

Wineglass Marathon Co-Race Director, Sheila Sutton added, "We're thrilled to welcome Sarah as our guest at this year's Wineglass Marathon and Expo. It's an honor to have her inspire our runners by speaking at the pasta dinner, and by running the full marathon alongside them."

Reinertsen also praised the Wineglass Marathon's inviting atmosphere. "I especially enjoy race festivals that offer runs at many distances so there's an event for every one of your family and friends to participate in - my whole running career began with a 5k. While I may be known as an Ironman triathlete the whole journey started when I had the courage to sign up for the first 5k, first half marathon and then first triathlon."

A pasta dinner buffet, complete with salad, rolls, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages will be offered at the Radisson Hotel Corning on Saturday, October 4 at 5:30pm. Gluten-free options available. Reinertsen will speak following dinner. Tickets are available for purchase at the Information Center of Corning or call (866) 463-6264. Limited availability.

Wineglass Marathon weekend is Oct. 3-5, 2014, and registration is now closed for the full and half marathons. Both races, along with the 5K, draw runners from 40+ states and several foreign countries—as well as a record number of runners, with nearly 6,000 this year. Livestrong recently named the Wineglass Marathon one of the "World's Best Marathons," alongside the Boston, NYC, and even Athens marathons.
