These FAQs are related to the Wineglass Marathon Weekend taking place September 28 - September 30, 2018.  For FAQs relating to the Wineglass 8K, please refer to the race page.

Expo: Bib & Swag Pick-up
Where is the Expo and where do I park?

The Expo is in the Corning Museum of Glass auditorium, with the most convenient parking in the lot adjacent to the west end of CMoG.

Can I get a different sized shirt than I ordered?

You cannot exchange during the Expo.  Full and half marathon runners can stop by the Expo location at the Corning Museum of Glass on Sunday AFTER the races (10:00am - 4:00pm) to see if an extra shirt in the size you desire is available. Exchanged shirts must be unworn.   CORELLE 5K runners may exchange shirt sizes on Saturday at the Corning Memorial Stadium immediately following the 5K race or at the Corning Information Center after that.  

Can someone else pick up my bib?

Yes, but the person must show verification – either your confirmation number or a signed letter from you indicating your approval - along with their ID.

Can I wear my bib under my sweatshirt?

No. Bibs must be worn on the outside of all clothing at both the start and finish lines in order for chips to read effectively. Your bib must be visible at all times. Make sure NOT to bend the strips and that all emergency information on the back of the bib is complete. This is critical should you need medical attention on the course.

What if I lose my bib?

Please don't! We cannot provide replacement bibs to any runner, so make sure you keep it in a safe place after you pick it up.

Can I transfer (switch) from the half to the full or the full to the half at the Expo?

We DO NOT allow transfers at the Expo. No exceptions! Transfers (switches) are CLOSED on September 15, 2018.   Prior to this date, if the race you want to transfer to is at capacity, you may  request to transfer using the waitlist.  For detailed instructions on transferring using the waitlist, see our Rules and Regulations page under Transfers (Switches).   

Can I transfer/sell my entry and bib to another runner?

The transferring or selling of your bib to another runner is not allowed under ANY circumstance.  It will result in disqualification and the original registrant will be permanently banned from running future Wineglass events.   Age-category awards can also be impacted.  Most importantly, inaccurate information could be provided in a medical emergency.

Can I swap my place in the full with someone who wants to switch to the half?

No. Switches are not allowed and will result in disqualification.

Where can I purchase Wineglass merchandise?

CNY Racing, LLC will be selling Wineglass merchandise at the Expo on Friday and Saturday.   On Sunday they will be located at the finish line near the clock tower in Centerway Square.  Other merchandise is available at 

Where do I pick up the merchandise I purchased when I registered?

All merchandise purchased during registration will be shipped.

Can I defer my registration to 2019?

All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; however, you may defer your registration to 2019 by logging into your RunSignUp account and going to My Registered Races > View/Edit Registration > Defer Registration.  The deferral deadline is September 15, 2018.  A limited number of deferrals will be available.  If capacity for this program is reached prior to the deadline of September 15, 2018, the program will close early.  There will not be notification of program status.  Runners can only defer their Full or Half Marathon registration to the following year (2019).  Subsequent deferment is not allowed.  The 2018 Deferral Fee is a one-time fee of $50 and allows you to register in 2019 without incurring an additional fee.  Prior to the opening of the 2019 registration, you will receive a coupon code to enable you to register for the 2019 race at no additional cost.

If I am unable to run, can you mail me my runner swag?

No.  We cannot mail runner swag to those who registered and are unable to run.  You have the option to defer your registration to next year.  If you choose not to defer, you may have someone pick up your runner swag for you at the Expo.  

Race Day: Start Lines, Buses & Parking
Will you have buses to the start lines and what's the schedule?

You MUST take a bus to the start line for both races. No parking or drop off will be allowed at either start line. Bus shuttles are free and for runners only. Park in Corning near the finish line or in Bath near Pulteney Park and get buses to EITHER start line.   Click HERE to see the bus schedule.

Where do I pick up my half or full marathon bib on race day?

ALL RUNNERS MUST HAVE A BIB WHEN BOARDING A BUS TO THE START LINE! NO EXCEPTIONS! THERE IS NO RACE DAY BIB PICK-UP AT THE START LINES. For runners unable to pick up their bibs on Friday or Saturday, bib pick-up will be available on a limited basis at the Corning Information Center, 1 W. Market St., Corning, NY on Sunday, Oct. 1st from 5:00-6:00AM ONLY! Runners must present a copy of their ID to pick up their bib. Please allow time to get your bib and board your bus to the start line! Runners picking up bibs on Sunday morning  MUST pick up their runner swag at the Corning Museum of Glass auditorium after they finish the race (Expo location). Please show your bib.

If I signed up for a bus from Bath and now want to leave from Corning or vice versa, can I change my departure location?

Yes. You can get the bus from either location according to the schedule. You do not need to notify anyone of your change.  

Where do I get the bus to the start line?

Buses will leave from Tioga Avenue in Corning and from Pulteney Park in Bath.  Click HERE for the full bus schedule.  

Can I drive and park at the full start in Bath?

NO!  We have ample shuttle buses from Bath and Corning to the full start to make it easy to get a bus regardless of where you're staying. The start of the full marathon is just a 5 minute bus ride from Pulteney Park in Bath so those staying in Bath, Hammondsport and surrounding areas will find this convenient. Runner and driver safety is paramount and we cannot have runners walking across an active state highway. 

Can I walk to the start of the full marathon?

NO!  Runner safety is our highest priority, and law enforcement will not allow pedestrian traffic across a busy and active county highway. Sheriff's deputies will be ticketing drivers who stop to drop off runners. Fortunately, Pulteney Park is just 1.5 miles further south on Rt. 54 and has ample parking and accommodation for runners.  

Will there be adequate capacity on the morning buses to the start lines?

We have added more buses to accommodate the increased number of runners. However, we ask that you be ready to board a bus before the last buses are leaving to ensure an on-time, stress-free ride! Bus end times will be the ABSOLUTE last buses! Don't let a missed bus be the reason you can't start your race!

Can my friend ride with me on the bus to the start?

The buses are for runners only!

Do buses stop at both start lines?

No. Buses go to either the full or the half start – they do not stop at both. Make sure that you get on the correct bus.

Am I allowed to bring food or drink on the bus?

Yes. You may eat or drink on the bus but we ask that you please dispose of any trash once you depart the bus.

What if I miss the last bus from Corning to the start line?

Full Marathon Start

With our bus schedule, you would be able to drive to Bath and park in the Pulteney Park area. Then jump on one of the last shuttles from Pulteney Park to the start line – which is a 5-minute trip. Keep in mind that the last of those shuttles will leave from Pulteney Park at 7:30AM so this is a stressful option for you just before your race!

Half Marathon Start

No alternative available.  Drop off near the start line and high school is not allowed this year as most roads are closed except for buses.


Is there somewhere to wait inside at the starts?

Buildings at both the full and half starts will be opened for runners to wait. At the half start, the Campbell-Savona High School gym is open for runners to wait. Buildings for shelter are more limited at the start of the full, so please plan accordingly. Ample porta-johns are available at both start areas.

Can I wear my bib under my sweatshirt?

No. Bibs must be worn on the outside of all clothing at both the start and finish lines in order for chips to read effectively. Your bib must be visible at all times. Make sure NOT to bend the strips and that all emergency information on the back of the bib is complete. This is critical should you need medical attention on the course.

Where do I get a clear gear check bag?

A clear drawstring bag is included in your runner swag bag which you'll pick up at the Expo with your bib.  Bags have a sticker attached to them. WRITE YOUR BIB NUMBER ON THE STICKER and tie the bag before handing to UPS bag check volunteers at the start line.

Is there a place to check our bags at the start?

Yes, but we will ONLY accept the CLEAR gear check bags! You will receive one in your runner swag bag. ALL items you wish to check must be in these bags. UPS Gear Check will NOT accept any other bags, boxes, luggage, etc. NO EXCEPTIONS.   Write your bib number on your clear gear bag with a Sharpie.  Look for the UPS trucks at the start of both the full and the half.  Trucks are assigned different bib number ranges, so look for signage on each truck to ensure you hand your bag to the correct truck.  Volunteers will have extra clear gear bags at the start lines in case you forget to bring your bag.  

Several parking lots in Corning have signs requiring permits. Can I park there or not?

Parking permit requirements are waived on Sunday, so yes, you can park there.  However, handicapped parking restrictions are in effect.  Do not park in a handicapped space without the proper permit.

Can I bring a backpack or hydration pack on the bus?

You will not be allowed to board the bus with a backpack or other large bag.  Hydration packs are allowed but subject to search.  Please plan accordingly!  

Race Day: On the Course
Do you offer runner tracking and how do I sign up?

Where are the viewing areas and how do spectators get there?
Can I wear headphones on the course?

The Wineglass Marathon strongly discourages the wearing of music devices. Participants must be alert to their surroundings and able to hear medical emergency vehicles, buses, official marathon vehicles and the Wineglass Marathon bike support team. For your safety and the safety of those around you, we strongly urge you to run headphone-free.

Are strollers allowed on the course?

No strollers are allowed on the course for the half or the full.  If you wish to run pushing  a Team Hoyt or Ainsley's Angels running chair, you must receive prior approval from the race director.  

Can someone bike with me on the course?

No.  The only bikers allowed on the course are those authorized by Wineglass organizers and local law enforcement.  The authorized bikers will be leading runners, moving runners to the side, if needed, and providing necessary support.  Unauthorized bikers will be asked to leave the course.

Where are the water stations, and will you have fuels available?

Is there medical on the course?

Yes, we will have five medical tents on the course, as well as a large medical tent at the finish line.  

How long will I have to finish?

Half marathoners will have 7 hours to finish.  Full marathoners will have 6 1/2 hours to finish.   NEW FOR 2017: full marathoners must reach the mid-point of the course by 3 hours, 15 minutes (Campbell-Savona High School).  

As both the half and the full marathons are point to point races on the same course, length of time to finish is dictated by when the whole course closes.

It's my first marathon. What happens if I can't finish?

We have buses which will loop around to the five medical tents on the course picking up runners who cannot continue and bringing them to the finish line area. This service is only for runners who are stable and will not need medical attention en route.

Can my children run with me across the finish line?

While we understand that you'd love to share your achievement with your children alongside, for the safety of your children and other runners, we are not allowing anyone without a bib on this part of the course. Our finish line area must be restricted so that medical staff can effectively access and treat runners. We appreciate your cooperation.

What if I need to Drop Out of the race?

If you need to drop out and it is NOT a medical emergency, please make your way to the nearest water station or medical aid station. All stations are staffed with volunteer ham radio operators. They will ensure a sweep bus is called to pick you up and deliver you to the Transportation Center (85 Denison Parkway) located near the finish line. If you have a medical emergency that prohibits you from making your way to the nearest water station or medical aid station for a sweep bus, an ambulance will be called. Please make sure your family knows that you have dropped out of the race.

Please make sure you fill out the back of your bib and inform your Family/Friends of your bib number as well as predicted finishing time.

What if I need Medical Aid while on the course?

Five medical aid stations are located on the course as well as one at the finish. Medical volunteers will be wearing red medical T-shirts. Medical volunteers and supplies will be available at each station. If you incur an injury or feel discomfort, stop at the nearest medical aid station. Most runners who seek medical attention are able to complete the race safely.

Please make sure you fill out the back of your bib and inform your Family/Friends of your bib number as well as predicted finishing time.

After the Race...
Where do I pick up my checked gear bag?

The UPS trucks will be parked on Market Street past the finish line in the easternmost block (closest to the Radisson) after the race.   Please show your bib to pick up your gear bag.

After 3:30 pm Sunday, any unclaimed  gear bags can be found at the Corning Information Center at 1 W. Market St., Corning.  

Can I get help stretching after my race?

Guthrie has a crew of physical therapists available in a tent just past the UPS gear bag trucks for runners wanting stretching, post-run cool-down and recovery. They will be assisted by massage therapists as well.  No charge for this added feature from our full marathon Title Sponsor!  Please note: starting at 11:00 am, priority will be given to our full marathon runners.

Where can I find the sweatshirt I dropped at the clothing drop?

No dropped clothing will be returned this year. If you really want it back, don't drop it! All clothing from the course will be donated to charitable organizations.

Where can I find my time?

Your bib includes a QR code which can be scanned by your smart phone to access Auyer Timing's site and individual results. Information is batch loaded by Auyer Timing, so your chip time will be available within 15 minutes of finishing. Split times are not available via the QR code.

Additionally, Auyer Timing will have a "Check Your Time" tent just past the UPS trucks on Market Street. Tables of iPads will be available for input of your bib number to get your chip time.

The link to results will be posted on our website and on by 8:00pm on race day.

How do I get back to my car in Bath?

Free shuttles will run on the half hour from 10:00am to 3:00pm back to Pulteney Park in Bath. Buses leave from the Corning Transportation Center, 85 Denison Parkway East. This is the block just west of the Radisson and an easy walk from the finish line area.

How are results reported?

Results will be listed in two categories:

  1. Gun Time – time recorded when you cross the finish line; based on the actual gun start time of the race
  2. Chip Time – your personal time from when you crossed the start line timing mat until you cross the finish line

What if my Gun Time and Chip Time are the same?

This means you either started right at the front of the pack or that your chip did not register when you crossed the start line timing mat. Please be sure that your bib is on the front of your shirt or jacket and that you do not bend or damage the chip which is located on the back of each bib.

I dropped my medal and it broke. Can I get a replacement?

Certainly! Stop into the Information Center with your bib and medal ribbon and we'll replace for you.

Where can I go for a post-race shower?

The Corning YMCA will be open Sunday from 9:00am – 3:00pm for post-race showers for runners. Towels will not be provided so be sure to bring your own towel.

Where is the Family Meet ‘n Greet area?

The block after the finish line area is open for families and friends to meet their runner. That block also includes the UPS trucks with runners' checked bags, a "Check Your Time" tent and Wineglass branded merchandise for sale.  Family members are not allowed inside the secured finish line area.  

Is there a lost and found?

The information table at the Expo will have a lost & found. After 5:00pm Saturday, all items will be moved to The Information Center of Corning just off Centerway Square near the finish line. After Sunday, lost & found items will be in the Wineglass Marathon office, in the same building as the Information Center but a different office suite.

Are the refreshments inside the secured finish line area for spectators as well as runners?

No. The refreshments at the food tent (inside the secured finish line area) are reserved for runners and are not for spectators.  Runners, please have your bibs available when you come to the food tent for refreshments.   

Where do I pick up my bib for the CORELLE 5K?

CORELLE 5K bibs can be picked up Friday, September 28th between noon-7PM at the Wineglass Expo at the Corning Museum of Glass or on race day between 6:30-7:45AM at the Corning Memorial Stadium.  You may register for the 5K at the Expo on Friday, September 28th if spots are still available.   There will be no race-day registration for the CORELLE 5K.

When and where does the CORELLE 5K start?

The CORELLE 5K starts at 8:00 am.  The start line is on Corning Blvd near Aisne Street in Corning.  Race day bib pickup is at the Corning Memorial Stadium starting at 6:30 am.  

Where do I park for the 5K race?

There is plenty of parking at Corning-Painted Post High School, 201 Cantigney Street, Corning.  Take a right off Corning Blvd onto Craumer Drive and follow the signs around the stadium to the high school parking lot.  Parking is also available at the Corning YMCA and Corning Museum of Glass.  

Can someone else pick up my bib?

Yes, however, if picking up for a non-family member, please have their confirmation number.

What is the course for the 5K?

Can I run with a stroller in the 5K race?

Yes, but all runners with strollers will start at the back of the pack.

Can I bring my dog to run with me in the 5K?

No. Dogs are not allowed in the race.

How long will I have to finish?

Runners will have one (1) hour to finish the course.
