Each year, almost 2,000 volunteers are needed to help coordinate and execute the Wineglass Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K!
Here's what the runners had to say about our volunteers:
- What an amazing community. I am humbled by the wonderful energy and spirit of the locals at the Wineglass. From the people standing on their porches smiling to the small children braving the rain to hand me a cup of water--I have NEVER felt such a sense of community and love anywhere. Amy - Frostburg, MD
- The staff and volunteers did an OUTSTANDING JOB..!! Yes we ran in it but they stood in it for all those hours..!! It was the first time I ran the Wineglass and I will see you again next year.!! I love it that much..!! Next year I will bring friends..!!! Robert - Mountain Top, PA
- Totally worth the 5 hour drive and frozen fingers - great course, charming town, and wonderful people, especially all the volunteers. Kate - Arlington, VA
- THANK YOU to the amazing volunteers and the medics... and whoever that adorable dark haired girl was near the finish with the Run Girl Run sign.. I swear that is the only way I was able to go the last few steps at anything more than a shuffle! Ellen - Ludlow, MA
- I would like to send a heartfelt thank you for the amazing volunteers and cold wet cheerleaders along the course! The sincere encouragement was amazing. Overall, this marathon always rocks. Marcia - Lakeview, NY
- Running in rain is tough... but volunteering in the rain and cold is even harder! Thanks to the awesome volunteers who helped out! Also, thanks to the spectators and local law enforcements, and the organizers! And I like the new finish line on Market Street! You guys ROCK! Otto - Wayne, NJ
- Many thanks to all the volunteers, staff, leaders, and the fan-support in the various villages, neighborhoods, and the on road-sides. I had a great experience in Corning, will recommend this marathon to the running community here in Raleigh, NC, and will return to run this one again. John - Cary, NC
- I live less than 20 minutes from the finish line, and I have NEVER been so PROUD to say I live here. The volunteers who braved the elements for hours on Sunday, as well as those who spent countless hours over the last year planning for this weekend should be commended for a job WELL DONE!!! Cannot say enough about what a profoundly rewarding experience this was for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dan - Lindley, NY
